So as we have come to learn, what we are is not easily explained as the site is always evolving. What we do know is that we are a meeting spot for happy monkeys from all over the world! Everyone is welcome to join in to the fun!
Monkey on a plane, started out as a regular travel site but is now shaping out to be a community with close connection to east Asia. Currently we are focusing a lot on Japan. In the future we wish to include Korea as well.
Ok, so how does it all work?
The monkeys that are a part of the staff publish articles, pictures, videos from time to time. Topics are tied to Japan in different ways. Depending on the writer topics could be – living abroad, studying in Japan, cosplay, cool gadgets, anime fairs etc.
Other than that we also let people connect using our Japan forum (coming soon). And who knows? We might even connect a live chat function.
The bloggers
The bloggers consist of people from around the world that like to share their experiences. They do this in different ways; blog posts, videos, pictures etc. They decide how they want to express themselves.
Can anyone post content on the website? We are sorry to say that to ensure quality content it’s not possible to allow anyone to share content, at least not now. We do however plan on adding a forum in the future so that anyone may share their experiences.
Why should you share your experiences?
Must important of all is that you do this because you enjoy it. But some other perks comes with the position 🙂
- You will be able to write about what you love! (And people will actually read it!)
- You will make new friends!
- You will get your own Monkey mail!
- Contests and giveaways will take place when possible
- Through your author bio you may promote private channels like Twitter, Youtube, Instagram etc.
- You’ll be able to receive a letter of recomendation.
Requirements
We only have one requirement that the one who decides to be a blogger does this on a fairly regular basis. This does not mean you have to blog every day but at least once a month. Besides this of course we do not allow any racist content etc. Keep it clean.
Do I need to be living in Japan? No, you do not have to. Even if you are stuck in your bedroom in New York but have a passion for Japan or a hobby that is related to Japan, you may participate. You could for example blog about the cosplay scene in your country. Other topics could be – studying in Japan, cosplay, manga, anime, the Japanese language, traveling in Japan and so on. You could blog about basically anything that is close to your heart.
